Despicable waste of an otherwise good caffeine brand.

Caffeine pills are cheaper, more convenient, and more 'standardized' in dose (i.e. one can break a tab in half, etc, control dose). This brand has been reliable before and I have been a regular consumer.However, this large size (501 count), which has worked in the past, was a ruined batch. Unfortunately stocking up I bought 2. I noticed immediately they are hard as rocks. I attempted to dissolve them in water. They do not fragment, as previous tablets from this brand have in the past. Bad news - since if it doesn't dissolve in water even after an hour or more it likely won't be all that well taken up in the GI brush border even if peristaltic/H+/enzymatic actions do decrease the size of the macroscopic particles.I would like to report a subjective experience in addition to the above: I DO get a small amount of energy, and my heart rate does increase. However it is not nearly commensurate with a 200mg dose of caffeine. I've even milled the powder with mortar/pestle and tossed it under my tongue; it forms a 'paste' rather than fragmenting/dissolving as I'm used to from this (and other) good brands.SO beware: my experience is that this brand is unreliable. Even if just batch to batch there are differences, it makes me worry whether the manufacturing process has 1) the dose consistent; 2) contaminants (i.e. lead adulterants, whatever); 3) any idea of the quality of their product themselves! But in this case, it even seems to fail to deliver - in 2 batches and 1002 pills! It may be that the batches coming off the line will be better in the future, but as for me, I've bought this brand about a half a dozen times, I've not used any other brand, but reliability is important to me and this destroys my faith in the integrity of the brand. If you bought a soda and one can was different in taste/color/whatever than the rest, you wouldn't trust it was safe. I worry if the manufacturing can ruin a batch this poorly, they probably aren't terribly good with things like making sure that unhealthy adulterants are kept out.I'm very frustrated to have to go find another brand but I am genuinely concerned about my health and rarely write reviews but I want others who bother reading these reviews to be aware as well beforehand. This isn't a book or piece of clothing, it's something you consume and it's not FDA regulated (like any supplement in this industry). What can you say about caffeine tabs?

These seem to "work" just fine if you're not into drinking a bunch of coffee or tea. What more is there to say about caffeine tabs? They haven't made me ill, so I guess they're OK.

Does the job but taste terrible

These pills do what you expect caffeine pills to do. But they are very soft and crumbly, so if you don't swallow them very quickly, you get a bitter taste in your mouth that's hard to wash away. Other brands don't have this problem so I probably won't buy these again.
